The Independent Convenience Store Alliance (ICSA) was launched in 2025 by a group of Canadian store owners determined to give a voice to the struggling independent convenience store sector.
Independent retailers, many of them new Canadians or small family-run businesses, have lacked a unified platform to speak out and make their concerns heard. These owners are deeply rooted in their communities, providing essential services and jobs. The ICSA provides a platform to ensure their issues are known and addressed.
The Alliance is built on a foundation of volunteer leadership, shared commitment, and grassroots engagement and activities. By pooling our voices, resources, and energy, independent convenience store owners across Canada can advocate more effectively on the issues that matter most to their operations, customers, and communities.
Hundreds of convenience stores have had to shut down in the last eight years. We hope our collective voice can reverse this trend.
