For years, the Al-Shikarchy family has proudly served their communities through their multiple family-run gas stations and convenience stores, located in Mississauga, Burlington, London and Guelph. Hani Al-Shikarchy, a second-generation operator, now leads the business his father built—though his father still works alongside him every day, continuing a legacy of hard work and service.
Each of their stores employs 2–3 full-time staff, many of whom are new Canadians building a better life for themselves and their families. Hani takes pride in creating a welcoming environment where his employees can grow while providing the products and services their neighborhoods rely on.
For Hani, fairness is key. He’s seen firsthand the harm caused by illegal contraband tobacco and believes that law-abiding, hardworking stores like his deserve to be treated fairly. That’s why he’s eager to speak directly with his elected officials to ensure they understand the challenges his sector faces and the importance of policies that support local, family-run businesses.
Hani’s story is a reminder that behind every convenience store is a family dedicated to their community, their employees, and a stronger Canada.
